Systems engineer. Physicist by training.

Riley Scott Jacob

I’m a systems engineer at a midsize manufacturer, where I lead IT infrastructure, security, and software development. Over the past few years I’ve modernized the company’s entire technology stack – network, identity, virtualization, and custom applications – from legacy infrastructure to a segmented, compliance-ready environment.

Before this I studied physics. I still think about it constantly – particularly quantum electrodynamics and quantum field theory. I’m building an interactive QED Feynman diagram explorer as a way to teach the subject to motivated non-physicists.

I also do security research on the side. I’m credited on CVE-2026-44171, a path traversal vulnerability in MariaDB’s mbstream utility.
